HAPPIEST TIME OF THE YEAR

Happiest Time... cover
Trax: Helen Love - Happiest Time Of The Year
Wat Tyler - Where's Me Fuckin' Presents?
Label: Damaged Puds (i.e. Damaged Goods) DAMPUD 33 1/3
Released: 1994, 2-track 7", 999 only, brown vinyl
More info: A strange combination. Not as strange as Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue, but who on earth came up with the idea of teaming the harmony-filled Casio punk of Helen Love with the "really terrible" (their words) old-school punk of Wat Tyler? Actually, I think they're pretty good - well, fun, anyway - but don't tell anyone.
Anyway, both bands did this limited edition, one-off Xmas single which is so rare that Sean from Wat Tyler gave his last spare copy to Ché records when they were setting up their Helen Love web-site. 'Why didn't they get a copy off Helen?' I hear you ask. Well, I guess she doesn't have one - it's probably her least favourite release and it never made it onto the Radio Hits compilation.
Cheers to Tuck from Wat Tyler for sending me his spare copy; unfortunately, after just one listen I can understand why Helen hates it so much. Oh well, no-one said I have to love everything they do. Oh yeah, Wat Tyler's side is to the tune of the Christmas carol God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen done in the style of their Everything I Do cover - a straight first verse and chorus followed by 20 seconds of grindcore that may or may not approximate the rest of the song. As the advert says, it's fun if you like that sort of thing.

Lyrics will go here when I can bring myself to listen to it again.
