More info: | Yes, a football song. What a band from Swansea are doing supporting a team from Cardiff, I don't know. But that's football for you.
(And better that than Arsenal or Manchester United). The track must have taken, ooh, at least 10 minutes to write and record - as you'll see from the lyrics, it's hardly the most sophisticated song in the world. But then a) one of the best things about Helen Love is their simplicity, and b) football songs are not exactly renowned for four-part harmonies and intricate 5:8 rhythms. Speaking of which, the tune is Helen Love's second to borrow the theme to the Banana Splits (whaddya mean, who?), the other being In Formula One. I'd tell you about the Teen Anthems track but I listened to it once, didn't like it and now can't remember how it went. At some point I shall try again purely in the interests of research. |
