Trax: | Urusei Yatsura - Vent-Axia Helen Love - We Love You (Does Your Heart Go Boom Mix) Superstar Disco Club - The Abstract Fashion Crisis Day |
---|---|
Label: | Ché, CHE 74 |
Released: | September 1997, 3-track promo CD |
More info: | This CD was given out to paying punters who saw the three bands on tour at Manchester Night & Day (29 September), Glasgow King Tut's (30
September) and London Dingwalls (2 October). Presumably, journalists and other guest-list types got their copies direct from the record
company beforehand. Urusei headlined and Helen Love were second on the bill. The advert for the show said only the first 50 people would get
copies but I was way back in the queue and I got one, and the record company person still had a lot left, so they're probably not that rare. The remix is fairly radical. The most obvious difference is that Helen doesn't sing - the vocals are done by Gary Strickland from Honeyrider. It's been 'techno-d up' - the guitars have gone and there's this cheesy, fuzzy keyboard riff repeated throughout. Plus lots of cheering crowds. I don't usually care for remixes but this is pretty good. The Urusei Yatsura track is pretty good though the 'spacey' effects in the instumental end section go on a bit too long. I have no idea if it's available elsewhere. Superstar Disco Club try to cover every base in indie from Bis cutieness to basic rock to Wannadies-type harmonies. 'Over-ambitious' is probably the best description. They're French, by the way. Oh, and the show I saw (in London) was excellent, thanks for asking. There should be a review here soon. |

Bought these jeans to make you love me,
Cut a hole so your hand would fit,
Now I don't care about you,
Gonna sew up all the rips
Got these boots to make you happy,
Strapped them up to turn you on,
Now I don't care about you,
I got my Helen Love t-shirt on
Can't stop Julie and her super Moog,
You'll be amazed at the things she'll do,
